As a group of young Chinese American adults searches for their roots, this documentary follows them through a program that uses the national archives and census and immigration records to tell the story of Chinese immigration to the U.S. They learn how to research their own family roots and then embark on a trip to China to visit their ancestral villages. Along the way, they come to understand and appreciate their parents and grandparents and what they went through to become Americans.
