David Goodman, Denis Doyon, for American Friends Service Committee
Activism, Human/Civil Rights, Youth, War, History
In the summer of 1994, the American Friends Service Committee assembled a delegation of 16 teenagers from the United States and Puerto Rico. Their charge: to journey to Japan and find answers to questions such as, “Why should young people in the United States today care about the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945?” Highly recommended for lessons in history, politics and activism.
“It will be our choice whether these weapons are used again or to stay in their silos.”
- Ilmi Granoff, Delegation Member
