Child/Spousal/Sexual Abuse, Sexuality, Women
Yuka leaves her parents’ home to strike out on her own in New York City only to discover that things are not as different as she had expected. Without a green card and with only a little money, she struggles to make ends meet by working as a hostess at a Japanese nightclub. Her nights are filled with dreadful and awkward attempts at entertaining the clients and salary-men that “visit” her for companionship. At the end, Yuka’s frustration escalates to rage as her perceptions about relations between women and men are confirmed rather than challenged or changed.
